ATypI (Association Typographique Internationale) is a highly regarded organisation in the field of type design. Founded during a time of technological disruption, the transition from metal type to phototypesetting, ATypI continues to promote typographic standards and ethics in the evolving industry.
Their annual conference is hosted by a different city each year, with branding that reflects the culture, history and creative spirit of that location. The 2024 conference took place in Brisbane (Meanjin) with the theme ‘crafted technology.’
My proposed identity captures Brisbane’s laidback charm and eclectic creative scene. The paper cut-out style letterforms form a flexible system adaptable across various promotional materials. The colour palette, inspired by the city’s natural environment, is paired with the typeface ‘Brisbane’ by Australian type designer Troy Leinster.
